ABOUT THE ARTIST

SplatterStyleSM, the service mark and brand of Nonsmoking Painters, LLC and artist Steve Seamansky, describes the Artist's unique style of applying multiple colors of paint with the artist's custom-designed instruments, forceful physical movement, multiple force-factor combination and varied, multi-level and spontaneous inspiration. SplatterStyleSM is both a scientific and symmetrical, organic, natural form of art featuring blending of multiple colors as the paints are actually travelling through the air on their unique trajectories influenced by varying combinations of artist-initiated and gravitational force factors in three-dimensional vector space. While some color blending is performed before and after the trajectory of the paint through the air to the canvas or other medium, the majority is performed while it is hurtling and gyrating through the air and subject to multiple force factors. In belief that the true beauty of SplatterStyleSM can be appreciated only by those who can position themselves inside of the artwork, the Artist extends far beyond providing his artworks in framed small-form media by providing SplatterStyleSM for entire walls, ceilings and in wearable form from mini-skirts and shorts to wedding gowns and suits. The Artist in his keen attention to the scientific factors so integral to SplatterStyleSM, has pioneered large-scale production theatres focused on producing the most intricate and beautiful features visible clearly into view of the human eye by using large-sized instruments, specially engineered machinery and instruments with extended armatures, larger amounts of paint and force applied over larger distances. These intricate details when produced by a normal human artists with hand-held instruments would be too small for the human eye to see without being in very close proximity to the work. The Artist in essence transforms himself into a giant painter, taking the micro-view into the macro-view, to bring some of the most intricate and beautiful features of SplatterStyleSM into clear view of the human eye and bring the art connoisseur completely inside of the experience. Digital prints expanded to span entire walls and ceilings also serve this purpose although the ultimate is, of course, the actual original work with all the three-dimensional and multi-sheen characteristics only it can deliver. SplatterStyleSM was described in simpler terms by the Artist in 2007 as a marriage of physics and color from heaven and asymmetrical, multicolored madness in perfect harmony. The Artist, who holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (M.Sc.E.E.) with a minor in solid state physics, electro optics and quantum mechanics, consciously applies scientific principles with artistic spontaneity involving scores of sudden, millisecond-fast, artistically-inspired decisions and impulses to create some of the most dazzling, tantalizing, mesmerizing, enchanting, exciting, stimulating, irresistibly tempting and extremely pleasure-inducing sensations ever experienced.

In answer to the frequent question, in regards to development of the Artist's SplatterStyleSM, "are you inspired by Jackson Pollock?", the answer is resoundingly, "no!", as the Artist was never aware of Mr. Pollock nor his work neither before nor during Artist's pioneering years of development of Artist's own unique SplatterStyleSM. The Artist never studied art formally beyond a class in junior high school and he never studied the works of other artists for any inspiration for his SplatterStyleSM artistic creations which he began to produce in year 2007. In the year of 2011, other artists who noticed the Artist's work mentioned to him the name and works of Mr. Jackson Pollock (1912 – 1956), a famous artist who is known for deploying "drip" application techniques. With all due respect to the phenomenal Jackson Pollock and any other artists who may be known for deploying splatter, or what were referred to as "drip", techniques, the Artist still to this day refuses to pay too much heed to other artists' work as he remains true to his own pure and original inspiration, unique style and its further development. It is a simple fact that many millions of artists are known for brush application style, and that it is difficult to say that any one artist is influenced by another just based upon the instrument used and general application technique. The Artist has been informed that other artists are known for using their fingers as application tools for applying paint through a forceful trajectory through the air to the canvas or other medium. The Artist himself does not use his fingers as the primary instruments but rather special instruments that he has designed and continues to develop himself. Just as there are millions of ways to use a brush and various application techniques involving direct contact to create millions of unique works of art, so are there millions of ways to use other instruments and application techniques involving paint-through-air trajectories to create millions of unique works of art. The Artist has also pioneered use of specially designed, large equipment and instruments to bring the most intricate and beautiful nuances of SplatterStyleSM into view of the human eye and also wearable artworks – all to bring the art lover completely inside the experience. When you visit another country where people have physical characteristics quite different than your own, or observe a pack of sea lions at the oceanfront or colony of penguins in Antarctica, you tend to perceive that "they all look the same". After you spend time there, you begin to perceive the wealth of diversity within that population and recognize that each has its own unique personality, features and style.

The Artist in his younger years was the most talented dodge ball (called at that time "soak'em") player on the school playground, throwing volleyballs and various-sized rubber balls with high velocity and spin, knocking other players off the court, and at the same time being the most capable in catching balls thrown with high velocity at him. He was also active in throwing rocks and spears, an archer, an avid fisherman and a skilled racquetball and squash player. He worked for years shearing Christmas trees with a machete on Christmas tree farms, clearing forests for airport runways and later became proficient with Filipino escrima (rattan sticks), balisong (butterfly knives), medieval sword play, rowing and sailing. The Artist has also practiced meditation, yoga, tai chi, kung fu and various martial art styles since a very young age. Having lived much of his life in the former Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic and Slovakia), and travelling all over Europe, the Artist is accustomed to highly asymmetrical architecture and ways of living. For several decades, the Artist has been active as a guitarist, singer, composer, photographer, actor, humorist, writer, publisher and film maker. The Artist is also a professional trader/investor in equities and commodities, and the creative mind behind scores of innovative ventures including the painting contractor Nonsmoking Painters, LLC. He also produces unique styles of Venetian plaster using unique, custom-designed instruments, stencils and original techniques, in single- and multi-color styles. All of these endeavors have contributed to the unique artistic expression of Artist's original SplatterStyleSM.
